What Happens After the Exam?

If the driver passes the DOT physical exam, the medical examiner will issue a Medical Examiner’s Certificate, which is valid for up to two years. If the driver does not pass the exam, the medical examiner will provide the driver with a list of any medical conditions that need to be addressed before the driver can be certified to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
